1. To be eligible to submit you must be over 18 (on or before the submission closing date).


2. Only one entry per person per prompt is permitted - up to a maximum of 3 prompts. If more than one story is submitted to a prompt, only the first story received will be considered. If you submit to more than three prompts only the first three will be considered.


3. Submissions must be in English, must (i) be original and entirely your own work; (ii) not infringe the copyright or any other rights of any third party; (iii) not be defamatory of any person or corporate body; (iv) not be under consideration elsewhere for the duration of this submission process, up to the broadcast of the programme series in 2025, and not have been previously broadcast or published, including online, and (v) be suitable for broadcast by RTÉ to a general audience: so excessive use of bad language, for example, should be avoided.

 

4. Your written prose piece word count must be under 750 words, poetry can be shorter, excluding the title.

 

Shortlisted essays, stories and poetry may be recorded, published and broadcast exactly as submitted beyond obvious typographical errors, without any opportunity for further revision from you. Producers reserve the right to request edits and re-records. Only submit your story when you are satisfied it is free from errors.

 

5. The submissions are shortlisted by the programme producer and the final broadcast submissions selected by the guest writer.


6. You can submit to the series by this means only: Email your submission as a .doc or .pdf attachments to wearetheprompt.com


In the subject you must declare which prompt you are submitting for. 

You can include a script and audio (mp3 only) - you must include a written script and if you want to include audio it will be accepted as a submission but the written text must also be included. 


You must include a title, the prompt you are submitting for, word count, your name, contact phone number and email. If you send an audio version the pieces may need to be re-recorded for broadcast to allow for direction and quality control.


7. The deadline for submissions is 12pm Irish time on Sunday 6th April 2025. This is a strict deadline; no exceptions will be made. Entries successfully made will be redirected to an acknowledgment message. New Normal Culture does not accept any responsibility for late, lost or damaged entries. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.


8. New Normal Culture/RTÉ will not enter into correspondence concerning any submission.


9. By submitting an a piece for consideration, you hereby acknowledge and agree that the broadcast submissions may be read out and reproduced and broadcast (in whole or in part) on RTÉ’s radio services and via the RTÉ website and online services (including RTÉ Radio Player) as well as featured in an RTÉ podcast available for download from RTÉ and other third party platforms. You also acknowledge that the submissions may be used by RTÉ for publicity purposes and published in full or as an extract in print or online (including without limitation RTÉ Guide, RTÉ website and other third party platforms). Submission to the series constitutes acceptance of these terms. By submitting, you agree that in the event of being selected for broadcast, you will consent to RTÉ identifying you as the author for publicity purposes to promote the series.


10. Employees of RTÉ are not eligible to submit.


11. If your piece is selected for broadcast you will receive a €300 fee.


12. You acknowledge and agree that to the extent permitted by law, New Normal Culture/RTÉ will not be liable for any loss or damage (whether such damage or losses were foreseen, foreseeable, known or otherwise) including financial and/or reputation and/or disappointment, suffered by you for submitting a piece to this series.
